ZX-6R Ninja, like the R6 above, has been around for nearly 20 years; it will be discontinued after the 2022 riding season after undergoing a substantial redesign for the 2019 season.

The latest 6R uses the same 636cc engine as the 2013 model, but with the addition of Euro4 compliance. Under the new paint job is a new exhaust, revised mapping, and revised gearing, all of which contribute to a loss of 1 bhp. The front sprocket is now 15/43 overall, one tooth smaller for improved acceleration. In addition to the two riding modes, there is a rapid shifter that allows for upshifts alone.

Featuring Bridgestone S22 tires and anti-lock brakes, it is the most direct competitor to the aforementioned Yamaha. This is also evident in the fact that every year Yamaha and Kawasaki fight it out for supremacy in the supersport category.

When not in competition, the ZX-6R is much more agile than many liter-bikes, allowing for quick and predictable direction changes while revving to a lofty 16,000 rpm redline. Like every bike on our list, it isn’t very big or comfy, but it’s great for when you want to go totally insane on your favorite backroad. The emphasis here is on speed.

The Yamaha YZF-R6 is a 600cc class sportbike that first appeared on the market in 1999 and will receive a 2020 refresh. In addition to being the supersport version of the YZF-R1, the YZF-R6 is also a companion to the YZF600R.
